the New York Yankees
The original Yankees began in 1901 known as the Baltimore Orioles. After two years of play in Baltimore the team moved to New York and were renamed the Highlanders and later became the Yankees. The team has won more World Series than any other franchise. Notable alumni include Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris, Whitey Ford, Don Mattingly and Reggie Jackson. The Yankees play in the American League East Division.
